Motor and Speed

This TR150 comes with a powerful 2.25 HP motor. This means the Xterra TR150 treadmill has a quiet, high torque running motor.

There’s a delay when the Xterra motor speeds up toward the 10 mph maximum. It will need a second or two to go from, say 3 mph to 10 mph using the 2.25 HP motor.

Incline and Step-Up Height

The step-up height for the Xterra Fitness TR150 treadmill is about three inches. The treadmill also gives you three levels of incline: 0 degrees, 1 degree, and 2 degrees, which the motor can handle just fine. That’s somewhat of a drawback for those who want to superpower their workout with incline difficulties. 

Another drawback is that you can’t push a button to automatically incline the Xterra TR150 treadmill. You have to manually adjust the incline with little knobs toward the rear wheels. 

Where the Xterra treadmill TR150 wins in compatibility, affordability, and cost, it, unfortunately, loses in possible inclines. 

Console

The console contains the large, easy to read LCD display. The display gives you your speed, time, distance, calories, and pulse at a quick look. 

You can also control how fast or slow you’re running with the blue up and down buttons. There’s the red button that pauses or stops workouts and the green one to get it started. You can’t miss them — even in the throws of intense running cardio. 

There are nine blue numerically chronological numbers underneath the TR150’s display. These are how you can quickly access the workout programs. Simply press a button, press enter, and you can start running. 

If you forget what each program entails, there are mini charts to the program’s speed intervals on the left and right sides of the Xterra. 

The console also has a horizontal bar to place your phone, tablet, or other media device while running. 

In all, the console of the Xterra Fitness TR150 folding treadmill gives you everything you need for a comfortable or entertainment-filled workout. You have every necessary button at the tips of your fingers. 

Heart Rate Monitor

The heart rate monitors on the TR150 folding treadmill are placed where you would naturally rest your hands. Grab the short bars in front of you and place your palms on the silver semi-ovals. Your heart rate will display on the screen.

Preset Workout Programs

The Xterra TR150 treadmill comes with 12 preset programs. Programs are available at the touch of a button on the console. 

There are a variety of program intensities to choose from. For example, program one (P1) looks like a series of three short pyramids. You start the workout at a slow speed, then work your way up to a faster pace. You slowly descend back down to a slower speed before doing it two more times. 

P5 is a more intense version of P1, in which you ascend to a faster speed more quickly and for longer. There are less intense exercises, too, such as P2. It raises the speed a little bit but remains steady throughout the workout.

The Xterra itself is quite heavy thanks to the internal steel frame. However, while we can’t tell you to exceed the user weight, it would probably be fine if you go over the 250 lbs restriction just a little bit (don’t go crazy, but we feel an additional 5 to 10 lbs over 250 lbs would be alright). 

Assembly

The Xterra TR150 comes disassembled, but that shouldn’t deter you. Many customers in Xterra treadmill reviews say that assembling the TR150 is very easy. Some users say it takes them about 15 minutes to get the Xterra TR150 treadmill built before running on it.

Maintenance

You must also center the treadmill’s belt, similar to how your car’s wheels need to be rotated after some use. Simply tighten the rollers on the end of the Xterra TR150 with an Allen wrench to readjust the belt. 

Turn the bolt little by little so that you can adjust the belt with small movements. Make sure there is space on either side of the belt when you’re done.

Warranty

The manufacturer’s warranty on this Xterra TR150 treadmill includes the following:

  • Lifetime warranty on the frame. This is no surprise because of the steel skeleton and heavy-duty plastic construction. 
  • 1 year on the 2.25 HP motor. Without the 2.25 HP motor, the Xterra treadmill is useless. It is covered for 1 year after purchase. We like the longer warranty on the 2.25 HP motor, though we wish it were longer than 1 year.
  • 90 days on the parts. The treadmill’s internal wiring, belt, etc. are covered for 90 days after purchase.
  • 90 days on any necessary labor. This is if you need anyone to assemble or repair your treadmill within the first 90 days of purchase.
